About NAIN Connect 2008
Young Adult Scholarship Application

Application Deadline: June 1, 2008

The North American Interfaith Network (NAIN) offers a unique opportunity to include younger representatives (ages 18-35) in a valuable interfaith encounter during NAINConnect 2008 in San Francisco, California. This scholarship recognizes young adults across the continent actively engaged in important work within the interfaith community. If you are passionate about interfaith work, we welcome your energy and enthusiasm and encourage you to apply!

You do not need to be part of a NAIN member organization to apply. Recipients are selected by the NAIN Young Adult Committee, according to the directives of the NAIN Board of Directors. Scholarship awards will provide US$300 towards the cost of attending the conference. You also may be asked to speak on a panel with other young adult scholarship recipients.

Please send an application to the address on the bottom of this page.

Your application should include:

1. Name, date of birth, telephone, email, and address.

2. Have you ever attended a NAIN Connect, and if so, when?

3. Interfaith organization you are connected to, its director, phone and fax, email, website, and address.

4. Essay:

(a) In what ways do you participate in the interfaith community of your city or campus? Please attach relevant articles, press releases or other material describing this work.

(b) What role does your organization play in furthering interfaith work, especially young adult participation?

(c) How will you use your experiences at NAINConnect 2008 to enhance interfaith endeavors in a local context?

5. At NAINConnect 2008 would you be willing and able to: talk about your work and background, lead a short prayer/devotion, or write a brief reflective article on your experience for NAINews?

Through the scholarship process NAIN hopes to encourage:

  • Applications from organizations that have successful young adult initiatives.
  • Participation by young adults who are involved with organizations that are doing interfaith work.
  • Information-sharing among interfaith organizations that have designed effective models for young adult activity.

NAIN defines “young adult” to be persons between the ages of 18 and 35.
