It has been our intention to use the NAINews blog for most news communications. The NAINews Newsletter 2014 is a summary with some new material. You may access it on the Newsletter tab or here.
Season’s Greetings from NAIN
We are saddened by a continual barrage of violence – some purported to be religiously inspired hatred. Yet we know that hate is the antithesis of all true religious teachings. As we read of school children being intentionally killed and other atrocities against men, women, and children, we must renew our commitment to peace. NAIN is dedicated to supporting interfaith and multifaith organizations in North America that are all dedicated to increasing interreligious understanding and therefore making peace possible. Each of us as organizations and as individuals must commit to continuing this important work.
A spiritual teacher at a retreat the editor attended recently used the Aramaic text of John 14:27 [KJV translation is ‘Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you’] to point out that peace is here now. Our task is to recognize it and remember. It is hard to conceptualize that wisdom in the midst of the violent news that bombards us. But peace is possible. And we have to start with peace in our own hearts.
Man must first create peace in himself if he desires to see peace in the world; for lacking peace within, no effort of his can bring any result. –Hazrat Inayat Khan
And so, in the midst of this often overly busy season, we wish you peace and peacemaking in the year to come.
